Fairways Privacy Policy

Your data, in plain English.

What we collect

When you sign up, Fairways stores your email address so we can send sign-in codes. You choose what else to add: your name, username, profile photo, the golf courses you've played, ratings, notes, and photos you take of courses. If you grant location permission, we use your current coordinates only to sort the leaderboard by distance. We never store your location.

Contacts (optional)

If you choose to find friends from your contacts, Fairways checks which of your contacts already use the app. Only hashed (scrambled) versions of emails and phone numbers are sent for matching. The actual names and numbers never leave your device, and we never store them, message your contacts, or invite anyone on your behalf. This feature is optional, and the app works fully without it.

How we use it

Your courses and ratings power your profile and the community leaderboard. People you follow can see what you've ranked. Anyone can see the public ranking of a course, including which featured golfers have played it. If you mark your profile private, your entries are hidden from non-friends and don't contribute to community averages.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. The only third party who touches it is Supabase, our database provider, who stores it on our behalf. Course photos you upload are stored in Supabase's object storage and served as public URLs so other golfers can see them on course pages.

Your rights

You can edit your profile, hide it, or delete your account at any time from the Edit Profile screen. Account deletion is permanent and removes your profile, every entry you've created, every follow you've made, and every photo URL you've uploaded. We cannot recover deleted accounts.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all of it from our database, including from Supabase's rolling backups within their standard retention window. We don't archive data after deletion.

Children

Fairways is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
